Defeated by Gaethje, Tony Ferguson actually earned the highest fee in UFC 249

The income of the fighters at UFC 249 has been released. Tony Ferguson won the highest fee even though he was defeated by Justin Gaethje. In the UFC light class interim title duel at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena, Florida, United States, Ferguson lost TKO to Gaethje in the fifth round. The defeat broke his winning record at the UFC.

Compiled from Sherdog, El Cucuy’s winning streak – Tony Ferguson’s nickname – came to a stop at number 12 after losing to Gaethje. In fact, the record has been recorded by Ferguson since 2012.

Gaethje put an end to Ferguson’s resistance with the left hand blow in a row on the face. Seeing Ferguson’s condition began to falter, referee Herb Dean stopped the fight with a victory for Gaethje.

Nevertheless, Ferguson has the right to reap 500,000 US dollars after the fight against Gaethje. That makes it the highest paid in UFC 249, surpassing Gaethje’s income, which earned 350 US dollars.

Gaethje earned the same income as Henry Cejudo, who managed to maintain the bantamweight UFC championship belt. This means that he also recorded his 10th victory in the UFC arena. Cejudo defeated his challenger, Dominick Cruz, on Sunday (05/10/2020). Then, Henry Cejudo immediately declared his retirement after defeating Dominick Cruz at UFC 249.

“I’m retiring tonight, Joe. I am 33 years old and feel happy with my career. Once again, I want to thank Uncle Dana (White), you are a real man, “said Cejudo.” I have done many things in this sport and I am happy with my career. I have one daughter and I want to enjoy time with family “added the Los Angeles-born fighter.
