The French National Team has not been able to secure a ticket to the last 16 of Euro 2024 after being held 0-0 by the Netherlands on the second matchday of Group D. In this match, the French National Team coach, Didier Deschamps, was disappointed with the weakness of the front line without the presence of Kylian Mbappe due to injury.
The France vs Netherlands national team match ended in a goalless draw at the Red Bull Arena, Leipzig, Germany on Saturday (22/6/2024). Les Bleus – the nickname of the French National Team – who played dominantly were unable to score a goal.
However, the dominance of the French national team was not in line with the threat in front of the Dutch goal. Les Bleus were recorded as only being able to fire three shots on target. Kylian Mbappe’s absence was felt strongly by the French national team.
Deschamps regretted that his team was unable to take advantage of a number of opportunities to score goals. Even so, the former Juventus coach was quite satisfied with the performance of his team when they held the Netherlands to a draw.
“Unfortunately we couldn’t score. “It was a high intensity match, and I was happy with what my boys produced tonight, although I was disappointed with our lack of efficiency in front of goal,” said Deschamps as quoted from the official Euro 2024 website, Saturday (22/6/2024) .
Furthermore, Deschamps asked the French national team’s front line to be sharper in the next match. Next, Les Bleus will face Poland in the final Group D match at Signal Iduna Park, Dortmund, Germany on Tuesday (25/6/2024).
“We did great things up front. “There are many positive things to take, and you have to consider your opponents, both of them are strong (Austria and the Netherlands),” said the 55-year-old coach.
“But what is clear is that to win the game you need to score goals. “We will consider it and hope to improve our performance in the next match so that we can achieve our goal of qualifying for the next round,” he said.
