RRQ is the only team from Indonesia competing in the highest Valorant tournament at the Asia Pacific level, VCT Pacific 2024 Stage 2. After less than convincing results in Stage 1, the king of kings team made several roster changes in order to improve its shortcomings this season.
One of them is by bringing in Cahya “Monyet” Nugraha from Paper Rex. Coming from a top team, of course Monkey is expected to bring a breath of fresh air to RRQ as proven by RRQ’s victory over DetonatioN FM with a landslide score of 2-0.
Making his debut with RRQ, Monkey also gave a statement about the differences between RRQ and its two former teams, namely Global Esports and Paper Rex. He feels that RRQ does not have any significant differences with Global Esports, but is 180 degrees different from Paper Rex.
“I don’t think Global Esports and RRQ have any significant differences, because they both play more by default. Meanwhile, the difference is actually visible between Paper Rex and RRQ, because Paper Rex plays much more aggressively than RRQ. “So the playstyle between RRQ and Paper Rex is 180 degrees different,” said Monyet in an online interview session with media colleagues.
This 18 year old player also said that coaches Ewok and Estrella had to warn him not to be too aggressive, because that playing style did not suit RRQ. Even so, he admitted that his game was getting better with RRQ as time went by.
“That’s why when I joined here, coaches Ewok and Estrella warned me several times not to be too aggressive at RRQ. The problem is that the aggressive playing style applied to RRQ often makes me get picked off. “But as time goes by, now my game is getting better with RRQ,” concluded Monyet.
