Djokovic Wants to Win as Many Grand Slams as Possible

Novak Djokovic said he want to win as many Grand Slams as possible and sees that as the driving force to continue in his peak tennis career.

“My motivation is to win as many Grand Slams as possible. At the end of my career, these titles are the reason I keep playing.” Djokovic said.

“I’ve never liked to compare myself to others, but it’s an honour to be considered one of the best tennis players of all time.

“If people see me like that, I’m very proud of myself because I put in the effort and energy to win the title like anyone else. I don’t want to stop yet. Let’s see how far I can go.” Djokovic added.

The world number one has admitted that if he has no physical and mental problems, he has the opportunity to compete in a Grand Slam with any opponent.

Djokovic now is sharing the record of 22 Grand Slams with Rafael Nadal after winning the 2023 Australian Open for the 10th time.

“Of course, the age of 35 is not 25, although I would like to believe it. But I feel like I still have a lot of time ahead of me.” Djokovic said.

The 2023 Australian Open championship came the difficult way, as Djokovic had to overcome great mental pressure after being expelled from the tournament last year.

“If I go back in time more than two weeks ago, by feeling with my feet, I don’t feel confident in my chances in Australia. After that, I just tried to get through each lap.” Djokovic said.

According to Djokovic, the fact that the last Grand Slam had a day off between matches was a good thing, helping him recover well. Since the fourth round, Djokovic is no longer affected by injury.

Regarding the plan to attend the next tournaments, Djokovic is unlikely to attend the ATP Dubai starting at the end of February.

He will check the extent of the injury before deciding. Djokovic also confirmed he will definitely participate in the Australian Open next year, if there are no physical problems.
