Dominic Thiem an Austrian tennis star believes he will be fine to enter the 2020 French Open and is ready to compete for another Grand Slam title after winning the first Grand Slam title of his career at the US Open this season.
The world number 3 came back from losing the first two sets before knocking out fifth seed Alexander Zverev 2-6, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 7-6 in the final of this season’s US Open.
Runner-up for the Australian Open this season, who finished as runner-up at the French Open in the last two seasons (both losing to Rafael Nadal), was asked if Nadal was in a better position because he missed the US Open this season, despite being the reigning champion.

“I thought physically I would be fine, 100 percent. I will have enough time to recover from all the obstacles I face. But the question is how will I do it mentally,” said Thiem.
“What’s clear, I’ve never been in a situation like this. I achieved big goals. To be honest, I don’t know how I will feel in the next few days. At the same time, I thought it might be easier for me to act in the biggest tournaments, because of course, I have it in my head that I have had an amazing career to date, much better than any career I have ever dreamed of. But until now, there are still big goals that I still haven’t got.”
“Having achieved this goal, I think and hope I will relax a little bit and play a little more freely in the biggest tournaments.
Nicolas Massu’s protégé has stunned throughout this season’s US Open and is considered the favorite, but he doesn’t dwell on it.
“I mean, the media put me as the favorite player in that match. It’s not like that I entered that match and know what Sascha (Zverev) can do. I always remember our fierce matches in Australia this season, which were really open,” added Dominic Thiem.
“I entered the final expecting a fierce match, with open opportunities. The first two sets went according to his wishes, but I never stopped believing that I would play big and start playing better.” “In the end, it doesn’t matter who I beat or in which tournament. I just won a Grand Slam title and that alone is amazing.”
