Dominique Aegerter on Sunday took his ninth consecutive World Supersport win in Race 2 at Donington Park on Sunday. However, the race was shortened to 12 laps due to a red flag.
The Ten Kate Racing Yamaha rider had to work hard for it but managed to pass his three Italian rivals in the final phase to finally secure e a great ninth win in a row for the team from Nieuwleusen.
“It’s nice to win nine races in a row, especially today because the race was really exciting.” Aegerter said.
“We had a great battle at the front, but it was interesting to battle the Ducati. I could see where we were faster, and just waited for the opportunity to pass.
“In the end we got to the front and took the victory. Nine wins in a row isn’t easy because every track is different, with different conditions and everything needs to be perfect to win.
“The team have worked hard throughout the winter to make the bike as good as it can be and I’m happy I can repay them and our sponsors for their hard work like I have.” Aegerter added.
The Swiss rider has now scored 245 points and has a 64-point lead in the championship with nine Wins in a row.
The ninth wins in a row equals Andrea Locatelli’s 2020 record and Aegerter can break the record in the following race weekend.
“I’m looking forward to Most, our goal is to extend our championship lead and have a clean weekend. If we add more wins to the tally, then that’s a bonus!” Aegerter said.
The next round of the FIM Supersport World Championship will take place on the weekend of July 29-31 at the Autodrom Most in the Czech Republic.
