Borussia Dortmund sporting director candidate Sebastian Kehl says the German giants still need the services of Erling Haaland. His statement could make Chelsea’s chances of signing the Norwegian striker closed.
Haaland continued to be linked with a move to London to join the Blues that summer as he missed Dortmund’s pre-season preparations last week. Moreover, the player is reportedly already in England.
Speculation is circulating that Haaland will be getting closer to some of the big clubs in the Premier League. Among them are Manchester City and the club that is clearly eyeing him is Chelsea.
However, the news is still uncertain. The reason is, the statement Haaland has landed in England is a satire from Michael Zorc.
This was also confirmed by Sebastian Kehl quoted from the twitter page of Italian journalist, Fabrizio Romano on Wednesday (14/7/2021). He said Haaland was still expected to be part of the club next season.
“Haaland to Chelsea? I read it, but for us nothing has changed: we have plans with Erling for next season, he and his agent are aware of it. We expect him to return this week,” Romano wrote on Twitter @FabrizioRomano.
Chelsea are not the only team eyeing the 20-year-old. There are still many top European clubs who are after him such as Barcelona, Juventus, and Real Madrid.
However, these clubs had to fight hard by pouring excess funds to attract Haaland. Haaland still has a long-term contract with Dortmund until June 2024.
In addition, Dortmund has set a high price for any club that wants to bring in Haaland. The price is around 154 million trillion or around Rp. 3 trillion.
Haaland is one of the sharpest young strikers in Europe today. Last season he recorded 57 goals and 15 assists in 59 games for Dortmund in all competitions.
