Ducati has unveiled the first images of its bike for the 2022 MotoGP premier-class season, even before the official launch of the bike.
The launch of the new Ducati bike was initially scheduled for January 28th, but was postponed after Jack Miller tested positive for Covid-19. The Australian had to be isolated in his country and, therefore, was unable to travel to Italy to take official team photos before the first pre-season test in Malaysia.
With the change midway, Ducati has decided to postpone the official launch to February 7th, between the Sepang and Mandalika tests.
Even so, to take advantage of the start of track activities in Malaysia, the Italian manufacturer presented a short video on social media showing what the bike’s livery will be for the 2022 season.
“Jack Miller tested positive to Covid-19, therefore the 2022 Ducati Lenovo Team Season Launch, initially scheduled for January 28th, will is postponed to February 7th, 2022.” Ducati said in a statement.
“While waiting for the team unveil, discover for the first time the new 2022 Desmosedici GP ready for the official MotoGP Shakedown test!” Ducati added.
The Demosedici GP22 will already accelerate this week at Sepang. First, at Shakedown test, with Michele Pirro. And then, on February 5th and 6th, with Francesco Bagnaia and Jack Miller, even before the presentation to the press.
Last year, Ducati was the Constructors’ champion in MotoGP, in addition to being runner-up in the Drivers’ World Championship.
Francesco Bagnaia challenged Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo, won four races in the final stretch of the event, but ended up in second place.
Jack Miller, on the other hand, was only fourth. With that, the team remains without a champion driver in the 2007 category, when Casey Stoner was the winner.
