Tennis News: Serena Williams has a golden chance of winning her 24th career Grand Slam title at the 2020 US Open.
Serena Williams did everything she could to stay focused on his game at the US Open this season. She chose to live in a rented house rather than in a hotel provided by the organizer. And She has a history of diseases related to the lungs and COVID-19 makes her even more alert.
“I want to be here, but I’m really worried about health. “I don’t want to stay in a hotel for tennis players, because I have a problem with my lungs and I feel it is a big risk for me personally,” explained Williams.
“In a house, I have complete control over everything, no housekeeping staff, or any staff. And I have to calm my mind so that I can do well in New York.”

Under new guidelines for this season’s US Open, the USTA allows tennis players to live with family members or other people on their team in a private home in bubble-like conditions. USTA also provides two hotels which have been approved and are for tennis players who do not wish to stay in private homes.
In addition, tennis players are required to pay a security fee for the duration of their stay to ensure that family or team members who stay at home do not violate and comply with all guidelines.
“They have to direct you, make sure people don’t go freely, like to nightclubs and restaurants. Then I think that’s a positive thing, because people might get a little bored and might want to go places,” added Serena Williams.
“I want to know where people are going and I want to make sure that we all stay in this big bubble. There are so many people at the moment with 128 players in the draw. That’s quite a number, so I wanted to know that everyone would keep their word and be honest with it.”
Williams battled pulmonary embolism and blood clotting problems during and after her pregnancy in September 2017. The disease at the time was life threatening. She rested in bed for weeks which eventually delayed her return.
