Eddie Hearn Reacts to Oscar Valdez Failed Drug Test

Oscar Valdez tested positive for a diuretic  a banned substance. The Mexican was scheduled to fight on this September 10 as Top Rank Boxing main event vs. Robson Conceicao. However, the fight now in question in jeopardy afte failing a test conducted by Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency (VADA), WBC clean boxing program.

Matchroom Sport Boxing boss Eddie Hearn has reacted to failing drug test for Valdez. The 42-year-old Briton said the truth will come out.

“Ate the same time I don’t know enough about the Valdez situation. I think as I’ve learned that has to be that has to come into light.” Hearn said.

“I’m sure there’ll be an investigation and the truth will come out. You know obviously I have a close relationship with Eddie Reynoso (Boxing trainer). So I know him extremely well I see him as an outstanding person.

“In this situation sometimes there are many reasons that could be the truth but the truth will come out in these findings and and then we’ll go from there.” Hearn added.

Valdez (29-0, 23 KOs) won the 130lb WBC title from Miguel Berchelt with an impressive performance on February 20, stopping Berchelt in the 10th round and pretty much dominating the fight, which shocked  most people.

He has been talked about against WBO titlist Jamel Herring or Shakur Stevenson – who will fight instead on October 23 – but instead Top Rank organised the fight with Conceicao (16-0, 8 KOs), a former gold Olympic medalist who has been playing pat-a-cake with his professional career for about five years.

The failed test is the A sample of Valdez’s VADA test, which means there is still a B sample to wait. But there is a chance that this fight is cancelled, and a chance Valdez finds himself stripped of his belt.
