Eddie Hearn: “Wilder will accept to join DAZN to fight with Joshua!”

Promoter Eddie Hearn believes that only John Skipper can make the heavyweight unification fight involving Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder a reality.

Hearn is confident that Wilder will accept the offer of several Skipper fights now that the DAZN Executive Director and the WBC Heavyweight Champion have met to discuss specific terms of the contract that Skipper plans to offer to Wilder.

According to Hearn, it is unlikely that he and Wilder’s team specifically Al Haymon and co-manager Shelly Finkel can come to an agreement with them in order to materialize the fightcunification among the heavy ones; a duel that all fans want to see.

“It’s fantastic. I think we have a brilliant chance to do the fight with Joshua. The only way for an agreement to be made is by doing so, and that goes through John Skipper.” Hearn said.

“That means there’s no connection between me and Wilder, me and Shelly. I tried to join a dozen times Wilder to make unsuccessful offers. But Skipper is the one, in my opinion, that can negotiate an agreement with Wilder.

“Because we have two additional guys with whom we have to negotiate an agreement, not just Wilder. So he has already proven by signing Canelo, and with me signing Golovkin, that he is very good at doing that.

“And I think he can convince Wilder. I think they can come together to get Wilder to fight Joshua. I think that’s what’s coming.” Hearn added.

Wilder will confirm a May 18 clash with Dominic Breazeale on March 20. While Joshua himself has a June 1st US debut at Madison Square Garden to think about. Despite this, the Briton is still keen to see Wilder move closer to an encounter.

“I spoke with AJ on the days of those meetings Wilder had will DAZN last week. He was just like ‘let me know’. He doesn’t want to bring himself into that line of thinking before June 1. This is heavyweight boxing.” Hearn said.

“You’ve got Jarrell Miller down there in Miami. I am watching him in camp, he’s training like a man possessed because it’s his chance to become world heavyweight champion.

“So if you start thinking about Wilder in November or December, you could end up looking very, very silly. From AJ’s point of view, it’s Jarrell Miller,” he added.
