Eden Hazard officially moved from Chelsea to Real Madrid. The announcement was made by Real Madrid through the club’s official website on Friday. “Real Madrid and Chelsea have reached an agreement for Eden Hazard,” wrote a statement on the official website of Real Madrid.
“Eden Hazard will join Real Madrid for the next five seasons until June 30, 2024. Eden Hazard will be introduced as a Real Madrid player on Thursday 13 June at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium after undergoing a medical test,” continued the Real Madrid statement.
Since joining Lille to Chelsea on 1 July 2012, Hazard has presented six titles for the Blues. The expert figure occupies the left wing position, the attacking hole, and the attacking midfielder leads Chelsea to win the English League (2015, 2017), the English League Cup (2015), the FA Cup (2018) and the Europa League (2013, 2019). Eden Hazard has overall defended Chelsea in 352 matches in all competitions. In that period, Hazard scored 110 goals and 92 assists.
Not surprisingly, the Director of Chelsea, Marina Granovskaia, was so grateful to have worked with Eden Hazard.
“He contributed a lot to winning matches and for all that we were very grateful to Eden. He has been a professional role model all the time at the club. An extraordinary individual. A joy can work with him. We sadly say goodbye to Eden. We have told him very clearly that the club wants him to survive.”
“We respect the decisions he has taken to face new challenges in different countries and realize his childhood dreams of playing for Real Madrid,” Granovskaia said again. According to reports from the US and Transfermarkt sites, Eden Hazard was bought by Real Madrid from Chelsea for 100 million euros.
Hazard has a dowry twice as high as the most expensive player Real Madrid brought in in the 2018-2019 transfer market, Vinicius Junior. Eden Hazard is also Real Madrid’s most expensive purchase in the 2019 summer transfer market. Hazard outperformed Luka Jovic (60 million euros), Eder Militao (50), and Rodrygo (45). In fact, Hazard beat the price of Cristiano Ronaldo when redeemed by Real Madrid from Manchester United on July 1, 2009.
