Eden Hazard has completed a €100m move to Real Madrid from Chelsea according to reports. The Belgian striker has signed a five-year contract with the Spanish giants.
Before the presentation itself, Hazard and Florentino Perez walked through Madrid’s trophy room, which holds their 13 Champions Leagues, and then went to have a look at Santiago Bernabeu ground.
“Today is a tremendously happy day for Real Madrid. We have a wonderful footballer coming to form part of our team. He’s one of those unique players with the ability to bring passion and excitement to the game. I’ve wanted to say these words for a long time, today we are welcoming one of the best footballers in the world.” Perez said.
“Eden, now you are where you wanted to be. Today one of your greatest dreams comes true. Here you will feel the emotion and the passion of all those who can’t wait to enjoy your talent, creativity and hard work.” Perez added.
Hazard had been at Chelsea since moving from Lille in 2012, winning two Premier League titles, one FA Cup, one League Cup and the Europe League on two occasions.
“It’s a great feeling. This jersey means so much to me. Real Madrid is the best club in the world. It’s hard to describe what I’m feeling. Stepping out on to the pitch and seeing all the fans is wonderful.” Hazard said.
“When you join this club you want to win titles. You want to win for yourself, for the club, the fans and everyone involved, this club wins titles almost every year.
“The first thing you think about when you wake up is that you’re at Real Madrid and at the end of the season you want trophies. If we play as a team, with passion and hard work, we’ll get there.” Hazard added.
The 28-year-old striker the third major signing of Los Blancos on this summer following the arrival of Porto defender Eder Militao for €50 million and Eintracht Frankfurt striker Luka Jovic for a reported similar fee.
