Egyptian national team coach Rui Vitoria is not happy with Liverpool Manager Juergen Klopp’s request to want Mohamed Salah to undergo treatment in England. Salah just suffered an injury at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Salah suffered a hamstring injury while defending Egypt in the match against Ghana in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, Friday (19/1/2024). The Liverpool player was taken off the field at the end of the first half.
Salah’s injury turned out to be quite serious. This was revealed by Salah’s agent, Ramy Abbas. He also said that Salah would undergo further treatment in England.
“Mohamed’s injury is more serious than expected and he will be out for 21-28 days and not 2 matches,” Ramy Abbas wrote on the X account on Monday (22/1/2024) evening.
“His best chance of appearing at the Africa Cup of Nations at the moment is to undergo intensive treatment in England and rejoin the team as soon as he is fit.”
Abbas’ words were also echoed by Liverpool manager, Juergen Klopp. Klopp said there would be no problem if Salah returned to defend Egypt if he had recovered after undergoing treatment in England.
“If he is fit before the final, and Egypt goes through to the final, then I would say yes. Why not?” said Klopp.
Abbas and Klopp’s desire for Salah to receive treatment in England was criticized by Egypt coach Rui Vitoria. He said it was inappropriate for the two of them to issue a statement before the Egyptian medical team that treated Salah’s injury directly commented.
“We don’t want to worry anyone. I don’t think it’s right for Liverpool, through any intermediary, to talk about this, because we have a very important game today. Salah is always with us.
