Eleider Alvarez (24-0-0, 12 KOs) will be ringside on December 1 to watch a fight between WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson and Oleksandr Gvozdyk at Videotron Center in Montreal.
The WBO light heavyweight champion is keen to get a unification fight over “Superman” Stevenson somewhere in 2019. Alvarez believes he can potentially win by knockout in all three scenarios.
Gvozdyk (15-0-0, 12 KOs), will be the first mandatory challenger Stevenson (29-1-1, 24 KOs) has faces since his 2013 knockout of Tony Bellew. Stevenson will turn 41 before fight night and ran out of steam halfway through his recent draw with Badou Jack.
“I’m going to be there [at the event] because my best friend, Oscar Rivas, is going to fight at this event. But I will also observe Stevenson with great interest. I really believe that Adonis will be the winner of this fight, and I think it will be knockout.” Alvarez said.
“After I beating Kovalev again, I want Adonis Stevenson first. Then I want Dmitry Bivol. But everyone knows that Artur Beterbiev and I share the same coach, so this fight won’t happen any time soon.” Alvarez added.
Alvarez won the WBO light heavyweight title in August by dropping Sergey Kovalev in seventh round in Atlantic City. The unbeaten Colombian icon ended Kovalev’s reign a top the division.
“I am the No.1 of the 175 lbs because I fought and passed the knockout to Sergey Kovalev who was considered the best.” Alvarez said.
“I never thought that Stevenson wanted to fight me, and now with my KO on Sergey Kovalev, the situation will only get worse.” Alvarez added.

Alvarez and Kovalev could fight again on February 2 at The Ford Center at The Star, the Dallas Cowboys Training Center, in USA.
“I expect a tougher rematch against a better version of Kovalev, who should be more focused, motivated and concentrated after losing the title t me.” Alavarez said.
“But I feel like, right now, people see our rematch as a 50-50 fight, so I still have something to prove to Kovalev and to people in general. Two fights are never the same, but if a knockout happened for me the first time, them I can make it happen again.
“I’m going to focus on boxing well and doing my best, but if the opportunity presents itself against Kovalev, I’ll jump on it. As for Adonis Stevenson, everybody knows he’s a great puncher, and I have to fight a very smart fight.” he added.
