Implementation of the first major tournament in the 2019-2020 DPC season, the MDL Chengdu Major finally ended by concluding the TNC Predator team as champions after showing an outstanding performance at the final.
Taking place in Chengdu, China, the tournament which has been running since November 16 entered the final round where TNC Predator came to challenge the two host teams namely Invictus Gaming and Vici Gaming.
Having to pass the lower bracket round after previously losing to Vici Gaming, TNC Predator managed to get back on track after being able to beat down Invictus Gaming’s resistance with a final score of 2-0.
Advancing to the final, TNC Predator has been awaited by Vici Gaming while making this match a place of revenge for Gabbi and friends with the best of five format.
No half-hearted, TNC Predator successfully managed to steal the first two points even against the home team. The Morphling-Eartshaker combo that TNC Predator often uses is able to make this Filipino team temporarily ahead with a score of 2-0.
Vici Gaming is not without resistance, the ferocious game Night Stalker shown by Paparazi successfully tore apart the TNC Predator game while bringing a glimmer of hope to the Chinese team in the third game.
Entering the fourth match, actually Vici Gaming was able to dominate the course of the beginning of the match and even was able to take a mid-barrack set first.
However, conditions began to reverse when the Morphling-Earthshaker combo carried out by Gabbi and Armel began to walk. Little by little, Vici Gaming’s defense began to be undermined and TNC was able to win it within 1 hour 3 minutes.
Win 3-1, TNC Predator successfully won MDL Chengdu, making them the first major tournament winners on the 2019-2020 DPC season and entitled to bring home $ 300,000 in cash and a DPC point of 4,850.
Meanwhile, Vici Gaming who managed to finish in second place was entitled to a cash prize of USD $ 160,000 and a DPC point of 3,000.
With 1350 points, TNC Predator has steadily shifted OG’s position which is now directly below them with 1328 points, while being a team from the Philippines this is the only team that ever topped the list during the DPC format.
Even though OG is in a vacuum after winning TI9, the achievement that TNC Predator can get is not an easy achievement because there are still many other big teams that become competitors.
Unlike GosuGamers, ESL which has its own ranking version still seems to make OG the strongest team, followed by ex-Team Liquid TI9. While for TNC Predator, they succeeded in being in the top 5 by stepping over Team Secret.
