Emoni Bates has been showing potential for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Summer League. The 19-year-old forward scored 21 points as the Cavs beat the Memphis Grizzlies 100-77.
He also grabbed four rebounds and made five 3-pointers. Meanwhile, Sam Merrill led the team with 27 points (8-11 in three-pointers). On the other hand, David Roddy was Memphis’ top scorer, with 18 points, in addition to five rebounds.
A few months ago, Emoni Bates was considered a potential lottery pick, but the Cleveland Cavaliers only selected him midway through the second round. That’s because the freshman had a lot of problems off the court.
Speaking of potential, Keyonte George once again did well for the Utah Jazz, scoring 26 points (5-10 on the perimeter) and seven assists in their 108-96 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Johnny Juzang also had 26 points, while Micah Potter flirted with a triple-double while making 11 points, 14 rebounds and seven decisive passes. For the Timberwolves, Leonard Miller repeated his debut performance and recorded 20 points, five rebounds and three steals.
Barry Brown Jr. was the top scorer for the Phoenix Suns in their 73-70 victory over the Miami Heat. Brown had 14 points and four rebounds, while Gabe Brown had 11 points, seven rebounds and four steals.
For Miami, Jamal Cain scored 18 points, but Nikola Jovic disappointed, missing all shots and finished with three points (3-5 from the free throw).
Jaden Hardy scored 24 points to lead the Dallas Mavericks to a 111-103 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers. He still added six rebounds and five assists.
While Dereck Lively, twelfth pick in the Draft , produced eight points and 11 rebounds in 24 minutes. For the Sixers, DJ Steward was the team’s top scorer, with 24 points.
