The England national team again failed to win after only drawing 2-2 against Belgium in a friendly match. England national team attacking midfielder, Jude Bellingham, said the team and fans must be able to take the positive side from this result.
The England national team held Belgium to a draw at Wembley Stadium, London, England on Wednesday (27/3/2024. Rode Duivels – the nickname of the Belgian national team – took the lead twice through goals from Youri Tielemans (11′, 36′).
However, the home team managed to get two goals back through a penalty from Ivan Toney (17′ (P)), and a measured kick from Jude Bellingham (90+5′). This draw meant that The Three Lions – the nickname of the English national team – failed to win in the last two matches.
Previously, they were defeated by Brazil (0-1) also in a friendly match, last Sunday (24/3/2024). Failing to win again, Bellingham said the England team and supporters must take the positive side of this draw.
“I liked it (the goal). I know how bad it would be for us if we lost two games in a row. “Many of these players have never played with me before,” said Bellingham, quoted by BBC International, Wednesday (27/3/2024).
“We should have won with all the opportunities we created. But these are two matches that will be good for us. I know people will be negative but we have to take the positive side,” he continued.
Jude Bellingham also said he believed in the line-up of players called up by coach Gareth Southgate. The Real Madrid midfielder is happy with the current game scheme implemented by The Three Lions.
“You trust everyone who comes into the squad and they are all there because they are good players. It’s difficult for the coach, you plan these games because you expect a fit team. I’m sure the manager will be happy with the way we played,” said Bellingham.
“You are never happy with a defeat or a draw, but we have to be happy with the way we played,” said the former Borussia Dortmund player.
