England coach, Gareth Southgate, admitted that he had found a way to bring the Three Lions to victory over Spain. England will play a match against Spain in the final of the European Cup or Euro 2024. The Spain vs England match in the Euro 2024 final schedule will take place at the Olympic Stadium on Sunday (14/7/2024).
Southgate received questions about England’s suitability to play attacking and focus on possession of the ball against Spain. According to The Independent’s report, Southgate laughed before answering a question about England’s playing style. Southgate explained that England had to take the initiative in holding possession of the ball first.
The 53-year-old coach said that whether he has the ball or not will be crucial for England. “Yes, we have to take the ball from Spain first,” said Southgate. “It’s not that easy for us to control the ball and make them run,” added the English coach. “I mean, Spain presses very well, so we have to be extraordinary whether we have the ball or not,” he added.
Young English midfielder, Kobbie Mainoo, emphasized that England has great determination to win the Euro 2024 title. The Manchester United player revealed that England is ready to make history by winning the Euro 2024 trophy.
“One hundred percent (sure we can win), that’s one of the reasons we are here,” Mainoo explained. “We are not here just to reach the final and give up. “We are here to win and etch our names in history,” he said.
Meanwhile, Spanish national team coach Luis de la Fuente is wary of England’s threat ahead of the Euro 2024 final. Luis de la Fuente has warned his team about the England national team, even though he admits his team has performed better at Euro 2024 so far.
The two countries had very different journeys to the final. Spain won all six matches they played, including against favorite teams, including Croatia, Italy, hosts Germany and France.
On the other hand, England was criticized for their unconvincing performance in the group stage. England’s win over the Netherlands was their second in 90 minutes at the finals after needing extra time to beat Slovakia and a penalty shootout against Switzerland.
