Wolverhampton Wonderers managed to beat Chelsea 2-1 in Week 13 of the Premier League, Wednesday (16/12). The hosts managed to come back in injury time after falling behind first.
In the duel at the Molineux Stadium the two teams immediately attacked each other. Chelsea had more possession of the ball and pressed the host’s defense.
But Wolves were able to make their chances first when Romain Saiss’s header from a corner was too high. Likewise, Conor Coady’s shot was off the mark of Eduardo Mendy’s goal.
Chelsea replied. The odds are 15 minutes from Timo Werner. Unfortunately the kick didn’t hit the target.
Until the middle of the first half, Chelsea continued to press Wolves. But there was no chance of a goal.
At the end of the first half, Kourt Zuma’s header received a corner against the bar. The ball falls towards Giroud. But the French striker was taken aback and the ball just hit his knee and came out. The 0-0 score lasted until the break.
In the second half, Chelsea still took the initiative to attack. They immediately pressed for goals.
As a result, Giruod gave Chelsea the lead in the 50th minute. Receiving a cross from the left, Patricio blocked his volley in the penalty box and the ball was released between his armpits.
The ball that came off was hit by his hand and crossed the goal line. The referee was waiting for the results of the ‘goal line technology’ to validate the goal.
Wolves reacted immediately. Three minutes later they scored through Fabio Silva. But disallowed for offside.
Wolves finally equalized in the 65th minute. Daniel Podence’s kick hit Reece James who made the ball turn and into Mendy’s goal.
80 minutes, Pedro Neto was dropped in the forbidden box by Reece James. After blowing the whistle, the referee finally checked the VAR and then decided it wasn’t a violation.
Wolves finally reversed the score on 94 minutes, when Pedro Neto dribbled into the penalty box and fired a hard left-footed shot into the left corner of the goal.
Score 2-1 for Wolves advantage lasted until the end of the game.
