English Premier League Results: Liverpool Beat Man City 3-1

Liverpool beat Manchester City 3-1 in the Premier League match 2019/2020 week 12 at Anfield Stadium on Sunday (11/10).

The Reds winning goals were created by Fabinho, Mohamed Salah, and Sadio Mane. The Citizens’ only goal was created by Bernardo Silva in the second half.

Jurgen Klopp’s squad seems to make The Citizens unable to move since the beginning of the first half. Liverpool were even able to break into the goalkeeper Pep Guardiola’s squad twice in the first half.

The opening goal of the Reds scored by Fabinho in the sixth minute. The host again added to the score 2-0 thanks to a header from Mohamed Salah welcomed Andy Robertson’s cross.

In the second half, Liverpool did not reduce the intensity of their attacks. The Premier League leaders also added the score to 3-0 in the match with a Sadio Mane goal on 51 minutes.

Mane successfully netted the ball into the Bravo’s goal by welcomed Jordan Henderson’s cross from the right side of Man City’s defense.

Man City reduced to 1-3 in 79 minutes thanks to a goal by Bernardo Silva.

The Citizens almost scored another minute later. Raheem Sterling releases a cross past Alisson who tries to cut the ball towards Gabriel Jesus. Luckily there is still Virgil van Dijk who is able to drive the ball.

Score 3-1 for Liverpool’s superiority over Man City lasted until the match was over. The Reds were getting further away at the top of the English League standings.

Liverpool are now eight points clear of second place, Leicester City. The Foxes successfully finished second after beating Arsenal 2-0 at the King Power Stadium on Saturday (9/11).

While Chelsea is ranked third after beating Crystal Palace 2-0 at Stamford Bridge Stadium on the same day.

The fourth to sixth position in a row is occupied by Manchester City, Sheffield United and Arsenal. While Manchester United are in seventh position after beating Brighton & Hove Albion 3-1 at Old Trafford Stadium on Sunday (10/11).

A landslide victory hoisted Manchester United from 14th place to seventh in the English League standings this season.

Former Manchester United coach Jose Mourinho believes Liverpool will win the Premier League this season if they don’t face serious injury problems.

Mourinho, who once led Chelsea to win the Premier League, considers Liverpool to have decent qualities that make them champions this season. With a difference of eight points recorded by Liverpool over the closest competitor, Mourinho considers the title race over.

“When looking at it from my perspective, I think the hunt for the English League title is over unless something dramatic happens, namely in terms of player injuries that damage the composition of the team,” Mourinho was quoted as saying by ESPN.
