English Premier League Results: Son Bring Tottenham Beat Burnley

Tottenham Hotspur won 1-0 against Burnley in the sixth week of the Premier League at the Turf Moor Stadium, Tuesday (27/10).

This is the third victory of the Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho’s squad in the Premier League this season and, uniquely, all were recorded when the squad nicknamed Lilywhites underwent an away match.

In fact, the Spurs’ two previous away victories resulted in a landslide score of 5-2 versus Southampton at St. Petersburg. Mary and 6–1 over Manchester United at Old Trafford. Amazingly, this means Spurs always win when they go away.

Tottenham far dominate the game with 62 percent. The home team only has 38 percent of the ball’s possession. Although far less possession of the ball than Tottenham, Burnley was able to make 13 attempts with four of which led to the goal. Tottenham recorded only making three attempts at goal from nine shots.

The two teams had a tough duel since the beginning of the first half. Tottenham, who rely on the duet of Harry Kane and Son Heung-min, have difficulty dismantling the Burnley defense, which accumulated many players in the defense when they lost the ball.

As a result, there weren’t many opportunities the visitors could create. Conversely, Burnley could create several opportunities through Ashley Westwood to Johann Gudmundsson who had not managed to break into Hugo Lloris’s goal.

Even in the 21st minute, Ashley Barnes broke into Hugo Lloris’s goal. However, the goal for Burnley was disallowed because Barnes was caught offside.

Son Heung-Min, Lucas Moura and Tanguy Ndombele recorded several attack creations to the Burnley line. However, the solidity of the home defender is the reason there are not many opportunities recorded from the Spurs side in this match.

Kane had a chance during the first half injury time. However, his shot was blocked by the home defender.

In the second half, Tottenham still had difficulty breaking down Burnley’s defense. Meanwhile, the hosts occasionally pose a threat to Tottenham’s defense.

The goal in this match was only created in the 76th minute. Son Heung-min’s header took advantage of a corner kick to shake Nick Pope’s goal.

The 1-0 advantage was guarded by Tottenham until the referee blew the long whistle. This result brought Tottenham up to fifth in the standings, while Burnley still fell in 18th position.

Thanks to an additional three points, Tottenham are now ranked 5th. with 11 points. In contrast, Burnley fell into the relegation zone after only bagging one point from five games.
