General Chair of the Indonesian Football Association, Erick Thohir, held a meeting with the Indonesian National Team coaching team in the Netherlands to discuss the 2026 World Cup Qualifications.
Erick met with the head coach of the Indonesian National Team Patrick Kluivert. Then there are also three assistant coaches, namely Alex Pastoor, Denny Landzaat and Gerald Vanenburg.
“Meeting with the Indonesian National Team coaching team, Patrick Kluivert, Alex Pastoor, Denny Landzaat and Gerald Vanenburg in the Netherlands. We discussed the progress of preparations for the Indonesian National Team’s matches against Australia and Bahrain next March,” wrote Erick on Instagram.
The Garuda squad first visited Australia on March 20 and then hosted Bahrain on March 25. These two matches will also determine the fate of the Indonesian National Team towards the 2026 World Cup.
Currently the Red and White team is in third place in Group C with six points. The opportunity for the Indonesian National Team is still open if they are able to achieve maximum results from each match.
There are only the top two teams that will receive direct tickets to the 2026 World Cup. Then those in third and fourth positions have the right to continue their struggle in the fourth qualifying round.
After continuing qualifying in March, the Indonesian National Team will play two final matches next June against China and Japan.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Erick gave the Indonesian National Team the latest jersey which is planned to be used next March.
“Introducing the new Indonesian national team jersey to Patrick Kluivert. A jersey with a classic appearance full of Indonesian identity, a strong character in the Garuda symbol, rich in Indonesian cultural heritage, and natural riches embedded in the Edelweiss flower,” wrote Erick
Erick hopes that all players can show their best abilities when wearing the new Garuda jersey.
“Behind this new jersey is hope, enthusiasm, pride, prayers from Indonesian football fans. We want every player who wears this jersey on the field to give their best, never give up and make the Indonesian nation proud.”
“We are fighting together, moving forward together, so that Indonesia can appear on the world stage,” Erick added.
