Manchester United coach, Erik ten Hag, satirised Alejandro Garnacho after his team was held back by Bournemouth 2-2 in Week 33 of the 2023-2024 Premier League. He then revealed surprising facts about the player from Argentina.
The Red Devils again failed to reap full points in the 2023-2024 Premier League. Visiting the Vitality Stadium, Bournemouth, Saturday 13 April 2024, Man United was only able to reap a draw.
The hosts were able to take the lead twice through Dominic Solanke (16′) and Justin Kluivert (36′). Luckily, Bruno Fernandes showed off as captain by scoring two goals in the 31st and 65th minutes.
However, something interesting happened at the start of the second half. Ten Hag pulled out Garnacho and brought in Amad Diallo. The change drew criticism and left fans confused.
Ten Hag spoke about the decision. He considered that he made the change deliberately because he had to repair the right side which was considered leaky because Bournemouth’s two goals came from there.
“We lost the ball in areas we shouldn’t have. “If you look at (their) first goal, the set-up was good but in that area you shouldn’t lose the ball and end up with a goal,” complained ten Hag, quoted from the Manchester Evening News, Sunday (14/4/2024).
“Our defense on the right experienced a number of problems in the first half. “We fixed it during the break,” added the man from the Netherlands.
Incidentally, Man United’s right side is occupied by Diogo Dalot and Garnacho. Only the player whose name is called last is drawn out. Ten Hag then revealed a surprising fact.
“We improved the right side and were more able to control the match. If only we had been calmer, we might have won. We didn’t play well on the right, there was a lot of space there, and we had to change players,” explained ten Hag.
“We didn’t play well on the right, there was a lot of space there, and we had to change players. Garnacho didn’t train all last week, only yesterday (Friday 12 April). “We have to bring energy and quality to that side, quality in the sense of cooperation and togetherness,” he said.
