Erling Haaland is not expected to change Man City’s Premier League race, but he will help Pep Guardiola look great in the Champions League.
City signed the superstar striker from Borussia Dortmund in a £51million deal this summer.
“The Champions League is my favourite competition so I think you have the answer there,” Haaland said
“Sometimes I see players posting photos with a trophy and I think ‘I would love to be you right now’.
“I just have to keep working hard and, hopefully, in the future I will lift a couple of trophies.” he added.
The Norwegian striker on Saturday night made his Premier League debut for the champions and scored after just 12 minutes against Bayern Munich.
The only goal scored by Haaland helped City win the Gray Lobster 1-0 in pre-season preparations, bringing joy to Skyblues fans.
Speaking after the game, Haaland said he had imagined himself scoring for City in these situations, and admits he likes manager Pep Guardiola’s ‘crazy’style.
“As you probably all know, I’ve been watching a lot of City games in the last years, and in the last years it has been without a striker, so of course I’ve been seeing myself in these situations today, so I’m not surprised.” Haaland said.
“Guardiola is a bit crazy and I like that. So it’s going to be fun. It’s one week so I cannot tell too much, but I’ve been training good and I’m ready for what’s next.” Haaland added.
City, which is already strong and dominant in the Premier League, is expected to be even more powerful with Haaland next season.
Guardiola’s side take on Liverpool in the Community Shield on Saturday July 30 at the King Power Stadium.
