IBF Welterweight Champion, Errol Spence Jr (24-0-0, 21 KOs) will defend his title against four-division World Champion and current WBC Lightweight Champion Mikey Garcia Garcia (39-0- 0, 30 KOs), on March 16 at AT & T Stadium, Texas.
Speaking to media, Spence is not looking to leave anything to chance. He wants put on boxing clinic and finish his opponent Garcia of within the distance.
“I can’t wait for March 16th. It doesn’t get bigger than this. Fighting at AT&T Stadium in my hometown is a dream come true.” Spence said.
“If I beat Mikey Garcia the way I plan on beating him, I will be the guy in the sport. This is my year and Mikey isn’t going to stop me. I am training like this is the biggest fight of my life and I want to put on a great show for the fans and win convincingly.” Spence added.
Spence stopped Kell Brook in the eleventh round to capture IBF Welterweight title at Bramhall Lane Stadium in May 2017. The American boxer had no problems dealing with a crowd of 27,000 Brook fans.
Garcia will have to make the jump of two divisions of weight to dispute this fight. He currently holds the WBC Lightweight World title, and now he will move from the 135-lb division to the 147-lb division to challenge one of the most respected boxers in the sport.
The 31-year-old boxer on the other hand, captured Featherweight, Super Featherweight, Lightweight titles and even won a Light welterweight title. In his last three bouts, he has achieved significant victories over Adrien Broner, Sergey Lipinets, and Robert Easter Jr.

Garcia, formerly promoted by Top Rank, is now with Al Haymon and the PBC brand. And Top Rank, promoters of Lomachenko, probably aren’t dying to work with Garcia after a pretty ugly split a couple of years ago.
“I’m here for the biggest challenges. I don’t know if there’s anybody else who’s a bigger challenge than Errol Spence,” Garcia said.
“I would like to fight at Welterweight, I wanna challenge myself to the fullest. I know he’s up to fight anybody, so that’s what I want.” Garcia added.
