The course of the British GP F1 race
The Duo Mercedes who started the race from position one-two was able to make a neat start which at the same time maintained their superiority. The only change in the front row occurred when Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) succeeded in taking over fifth place from Pierre Gasly (Red Bull Racing).
The British public was cheered on the fourth lap when their hero, Lewis Hamilton, tried to overlap his team-mate Valtteri Bottas. Dueling for the leading position took place quite fiercely before finally Bottas was able to return to lead the race after being held by Hamilton.
Competition between the Mercedes riders continues where both alternately record the fastest lap time. Meanwhile, similar fierce competition occurred in the second row involving four riders from two teams, namely Ferrari and Red Bull Racing. Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) fought fiercely with Max Verstappen (Red Bull Racing) for the third position, while behind them was Vettel and Gasly respectively.
Entering the 13th lap, Pierre Gasly took the initiative to do a pit stop while trying to do an undercut strategy. One lap later, it was Leclerc and Verstappen’s turn to do a pit stop simultaneously and the drama occurred when the two drivers almost touched the pit lane area. After the drama in the pit lane, the two drivers who had argued at the 2019 Austrian GP continued their duel on the track where several times overtake occured.
On lap 20 the yellow flag was raised after Antonio Giovinazzi (Alfa Romeo) had an accident that caused the safety car to be lowered onto the track. The moment was immediately utilized by a number of riders to do pit stops including the leader of the race, Lewis Hamilton.
Hamilton was able to exit the pit on time and remain in front of Bottas who had already made a pit stop. Sebastian Vettel, Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc took similar steps that made them lose their position.
Rows of positions 1-6 are also sequentially filled by Hamilton, Bottas, Vettel, Gasly, Verstappen, and Leclerc. After about four laps of the safety car was lowered to the track, the 2019 British GP resumed and a fierce duel ensued.
Charles Leclerc was again involved in a duel with Max Verstappen who was in front of him. This time, Verstappen was able to withstand all the maneuvers launched by Leclerc so that he remained in fifth place.
After overcoming pressure from Charles Leclerc, Max Verstappen was able to rise to fourth after successfully overtaking Pierre Gasly on lap 30. Verstappen continued his hunt by targeting the third position occupied by Vettel while leaving Gasly to duel with Leclerc.
On the 36th lap, Charles Leclerc successfully overtook Pierre Gasly at the third corner of the Silverstone Circuit. Another lap thereafter, it is Verstappen who tries to overtake Vettel. Verstappen actually managed to overtake it, but Vettel made a mistake by crashing into the back of a Red Bull Racing car after late braking. As a result, the two riders slipped off the track and were preceded by Leclerc and Gasly before finally continuing the race.
When Verstappen was able to continue the race, Vettel who suffered damage had to do a pit stop which made him scattered in the distended rank.
Distances that are far from the third rank are utilized by Valtteri Bottas, who claimed to have a slight problem with the tires to have pitstop the 46th lap. Mercedes also plan Hamilton to take a similar step, but the driver refused.
Even so, Lewis Hamilton able to continue the race without problems and crossed the finish line as winners. Moreover, Hamilton was able to score the fastest lap in the last round which earned him an extra one point.
