The results of Brighton vs Liverpool in the 2022-2023 FA Cup are already known. The Reds -nicknamed Liverpool- had to collapse in the fourth round after losing to The Seagulls -nicknamed Brighton- with a narrow score of 2-1.
The match took place at the Falmer Stadium, Brighton, England, on Sunday (29/1/2023). One Liverpool goal came through Harvey Elliott (30′), while two of Brighton’s winning goals were scored by Lewis Dunk (39′) and Kaoru Mitoma (90 + 2′).
Course of the Match
First Half
Playing as a guest team, The Reds -nicknamed Liverpool- immediately stepped on the gas from the start. In the 4th minute they even almost opened their tap of goals through the feet of Mohamed Salah, but were still able to block Brighton defender Lewis Dunk.
However, Brighton is not without threats. Roberto De Zerbi’s polished team also often spread threats against Liverpool. One of them was through Kaoru Mitoma’s kick in the 21st minute which Alisson Becker was able to save.
After launching attack after attack, finally Liverpool’s goal faucet was created in the 30th minute. Harvey Elliott successfully listed his name on the scoreboard after converting the mature bait provided by Salah.
Only nine minutes later, Brighton managed to equalize at 1-1. Lewis Dunk got his name on the scoreboard after Tariq Lamptey’s shot hit his leg, causing the ball to change direction.
Then in the final five minutes of the first half, the match was tight because the two teams traded attacks. But no goals were created so Brighton and Liverpool drew 1-1 in the first half.
Second Half
In the second half, Liverpool were still trying to increase their goal coffers. However, the attack launched by Jurgen Klopp’s troops still did not produce sweet results.
Both Liverpool and Brighton traded attacks, making the match very tight. Until the game entered the 75th minute, no additional goals were created. The score is still as strong as 1-1.
Both teams actually had the opportunity to increase their advantage through the attacks they launched. However, all this is still not effective to produce sweet results.
Until finally, The Seagulls -Brighton’s nickname- managed to break down Liverpool’s goal in the 90+2 minute through Kaoru Mitoma’s feet. This goal also made Brighton win over the Reds in the fourth round of the 2022/2023 FA Cup.
