The 2024 season was new to the series, but it was optimistic as Fabio Quartararo made it to clinch the championship in 2021 and was among the top-performing riders.
However, there have been a number of challenges this year such as; mechanical problems, competition, and others more that Quartararo had faced in races that have not gone his way.
Yamaha also has its issues to content with – the motorbike division has been unable to maintain the same levels of progress as rival manufactures like Ducati and KTM.
“I learned to stay calm and try to improve the bike in the best way possible. Of course, on the inside there are moments where you get really angry, but it’s for a really short time.” Quartararo said.
“But the way we have worked hard this year has been amazing. Of course, I expected the improvement to be much faster and quicker but we found a way.
“And I think on my personal side and on the riding, I managed to get really something extra.” Quartararo added.
Speaking about the weakness, Quartararo pointed at what he believes actually slowed Yamaha down in 2024 – a shortage of available riders for testing, racing and the development of machine.
“What was missing was riders – we have only two. Cal had an injury on the arm, so we had no test riders.” Quartararo said.
“We were alone basically and this for me was the biggest issue this year and next year with another factory team, the test team is growing quite a lot.
“I think the way we have taken since Misano 2 has been much better and we see the results. It’s not fantastic but at least it’s growing step by step.” he added.
