Federer’s fitness coach reveals remarkable work ethic

After 17 years of keeping Roger Federer in peak condition, fitness coach Pierre Paganini admits the 18-time grand slam winner has been challenging in all the right ways.

Despite a 2016 plagued by injury, Federer has bounced back in 2017 to claim the Australian Open with Paganini revealing the Swiss star is never one to shy away from the necessary hard yards.

“There wasn’t any single day in 17 years that he came crawling over here,” Paganini told Tribune de Geneve.

“Sometimes he was tired but at the end of the day he worked more than usual.

“From this point of view, he is an amazing player.

“He is a special case, he has an enormous potential, a coordination that makes him being a phenomenal athlete.

“It’s already 17 years and we get surprised by each other.

“He forces me to be constantly creative during the practice sessions in order to keep him motivated.”

Having worked so closely with Federer for over a decade, Paganini believes he knows how the tennis legend has achieved so much.

“Passion, it’s a very simple word that is used by many people,” he said.

“For him it’s a philosophy of daily life, it allows him to live tennis while he breaths the life.”
