Online gambling has its own craze and each day new players are trying the taste of it at various online casinos. As per a new report published by Spanish gaming regulator Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego (DGOJ), it is 83% of men who gamble at Spanish licensed sites but the number of females participating in the gambling market has increased by 53.5% in the year 2015. This increase is undoubtedly attributed to the midyear addition of slots as an online option.
Casino vertical surprisingly enjoyed the largest year on year participation gains which increased to 80.4% in 2015. Bingo posted the second largest gain of 37.6% increase gaining ahead slightly from sports betting which was third with an increase of 34.4%. However, poker saw a decrease in the participation level of 2.1%. There was a total of 985k total active player accounts with Spanish licensed casino operators. With this number, the monthly average number of active players was up 16.2% but their average playing time decline by 2.7%. Around 70$ of the active players had only an account with just one Spanish casino operator.
The average annual expenditure via these accounts was £293 out of which men spent more than twice as much £322 as women £146. Customers aged between 36-45 years were the one who spent maximum with an average of £552 while the 18-25 female demos spent the least £15. Over 2.4m players had registered an account with a Spanish licensed operator by the end of 2015 which is 25.3% higher compared to the end of 2014. These figures talk about a good indication of the rise in the number of new player accounts which is a good for the industry.
