Ferrari will be investing in Female drivers

Ferrari Female Drivers

Ferrari wants to pioneer in establishing gender equivalence in the Fomula 1.

Ferrari has expressed its interest to hire female drivers for its F1 Junior Programmer. It has announced working for introducing ladies drivers “very soon”.

Formula 1 had only six women so far which participate in world championship weekend. Lella Lombradi, who participated in 1975 Spanish Grand Prix, was the only successful driver. She was able to find only half a point to her name.

Susie Wolff is the only female driver to participate during last decade. She participated during practice sessions of 2014 and 2015 season.

In 1992, Giovanna Amati tried her luck to enter Grand Prix. But she failed to qualify for three races.

Jamie Chadwick, W Series Champion, have relations with Williams F1 team and Tatiana Calderon have been associated with Alfa Romeo team. She has been involved in testing Sauber.

Mattia Binotto, Ferrari team principal, has asserted that they are ready to “invest in the future”. The team will be investing in increasing the Ferrari Driver Academy participants in 2020 to make space for female drivers.

“A few other drivers will join,” he said. “It’s something on which we are working very hard. So, we are pleased to know that.

“The Driver Academy is an important investment for us. [Ferrari F1 driver] Charles is the best example. We need to look at the future generation of talent for Ferrari.

“The Academy also looks for women in the future.

“Women should be part of the Ferrari Driver Academy. That’s something on which we are working right now to make sure that it may happen very soon.”

In 1950, Formula 1 World Championship started and total 772 drivers have participated in a Grand Prix.

Lewis Hamilton, Six time world championship, also supported the notion of training and introducing female F1 drivers. He supported it through a Mercedes official video at the end of the season in which he wished to witness a successful F1 female driver.

“I want the sport to be more accessible,” said Hamilton, who witnessed history himself by becoming first black F1 driver in 2007.

“I was at the FIA gala and I came across an Asian family, and I was like, ‘Hey, I thought I was gonna be the only brown person here!’ Because that’s how it normally is.

“I’m in a world where that’s been common for my entire life.

“So to see people of colour in the audience, whether it’s black, Asian, whatever it may be, it’s just great to see diversity slowly creeping in.

“It is a world that’s open to everyone.

“And I hope at some stage there’s a young powerful woman that comes through and blows the field away.

“Wouldn’t that be something special?”
