The United States has become the overall champion at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The success of the United States (US) in becoming the top of the 2024 Olympics was dramatic after winning gold in the last match, namely the women’s basketball final against France. The American women’s basketball team defeated the host France in the final match at Bercy Arena, Sunday (11/8/2024).
In the match, the US women’s basketball team, namely A’ja Wilson et al., became the winner through a tight match. The US women’s basketball team defeated France by just one point, namely 67-66. The victory was very crucial and historic for the United States. This is because thanks to the gold, America managed to match the gold medal tally of the Chinese contingent.
Now, both the US and China have collected 40 gold medals. However, the US is superior in the total medal tally, namely 126 medals, with details of 40 gold, 44 silver, and 42 bronze. Meanwhile, China has collected a total of 91 medals, with details of 40 gold, 27 silver, and 24 bronze. Therefore, the United States is also entitled to emerge as the overall champion of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Meanwhile, Japan completes the top three positions with a total of 45 medals, namely 20 gold, 12 silver, and 13 bronze. After that, Australia and host France respectively occupy the fourth and fifth positions in the 2024 Paris Olympics standings.
SouthEast Asia Standings
The Philippine contingent is ranked first for the ASEAN (Southeast Asia) country category in the final standings of the 2024 Paris Olympics. Meanwhile, Indonesia is in second place.
The Philippines is ranked 37th in the standings ahead of the closing of the 2024 Paris Olympics which will take place on Sunday (11/8/2024). The Philippines won a total of four medals with details of two gold and two bronze. The two golds for the Philippines were obtained from gymnastics through Carlos Edriel Yulo. Two bronzes were contributed from boxing through Aira Villegas and Nesthy Petecio.
Meanwhile, Indonesia is ranked 39th with a total of three medals consisting of two golds and one bronze. Indonesia’s two golds came from Veddriq Leonardo (rock climbing) and Rizki Juniansyah (weightlifting). Meanwhile, the bronze was won through the struggle of Gregoria Mariska Tunjung (badminton).
Next, at the Southeast Asian country level, Thailand is ranked third. In the standings, Thailand is ranked 44th with a total of six medals; one gold, three silver, and two bronze. Below Thailand, there is Malaysia which is ranked 80th in the 2024 Paris Olympics standings. Malaysia won a total of two medals, namely two bronze. Meanwhile, Singapore is below Malaysia, ranked 84th in the 2024 Olympic standings. Singapore won one bronze medal.
