The match against Paris Saint-Germain is said to be the last Champions League match for coach of FC Bayern Munich, Hansi Flick. He is said to be the successor to Joachim Loew as the German national team coach. This was stated by the legend of the German national team, Lothar Matthaeus, on the Sky Sports.
FC Bayern was eliminated in the Champions League and must recognize PSG 3-3’s superiority through away goals on aggregate. Bayern won 1-0 in the second leg but Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting’s goal was not enough to avenge a 2-3 defeat in the first game in Germany.
After the match, Lotthar Matthaeus talked about the future of FC Bayern coach Hansi Flick. He is said to be a replacement for coach Joachim Loew at the end of the season.
“Hansi Flick has received an offer to become the boss of the German national team. Bayern Munich are thinking of making Julian Nagelsmann a successor,” said Matthaeus. “The Bundesliga match against Augsburg (the end of the season) will be his last as Bayern coach,” said the man with 150 appearances for the German national team.
Flick was Joachim Loew’s assistant when Germany lifted the 2014 World Cup trophy. Hansi Flick won every possible title, six trophies, with FC Bayern last season. He was also on the right path to bring Bayern back into the Bundesliga championship. Currently his team is five points ahead at the top of the German League from RB Leipzig.
Flick actually has a contract at Bayern until 2023 but German media DW said that the coach’s relationship with club officials, especially sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic, is deteriorating. Salihamidzic is said to have upset the coach with some of the transfers he’s made and which players are staying.
One of the players at the center of the Salihamidzic vs Flick storm is senior defender Jerome Boateng. The 32-year-old player will be released at the end of this season although Flick is reportedly looking to keep the defender. The arrival of Dayot Upamecano from RB Leipzig has reportedly not made the coach satisfied. Moreover, at the end of this season, David Alaba will also leave.
