Neymar would prefer to rejoin Barcelona over a move to Real Madrid should he depart Ligue 1 champion Paris Saint-Germain in last summer.
The Brazilian striker has endured an unhappy time at PSG, and if the multitude of rumours doing the rounds at present are accurate, his team are looking to engineer a move back to Barcelona.
Former Barcelona player Ludovic Giuly considers it legitimate that Neymar wants to return to Camp Nou.
“He is human. It’s not bad to be in Paris, but Barca is above.” Giuly said when asked about Neymar’s desire to return to Barcelona.
“When you are a Neymar level player, you want to be in a position to win the Champions League every year. And you see that in Paris, contrary to what you thought, that doesn’t work that way. And obviously, you get nostalgic. And there, if you have Leo and others who say “come back!”, You only have one wish: go back there.” Giuly added.
In the 2017–2018 edition he was injured and missed the crucial second leg versus Madrid in the early knockout stages. In the following season that just transpired, he missed the tie altogether with Manchester United that resulted in PSG’s acrimonious exit.
On the other hand PSG could go on to win the champions league without Neymar with Mbappe stealing all the headlines, but people think it’s safe to say they will be cutting Neymar loose far too soon for comfort.
“We saw his character: he went from saying” I want to go “to” I want to win the Champions League with the PSG “. That changes everything,” Giuly said.
“The PSG can win the Champions League. What makes me optimistic is the state of form of Neymar right now. We had never seen it like this in Paris. That means he has found the momentum. It’s something you see.” he added.
