Former Wimbledon champion Pat Cash on Saturday has suggested Andy Murray to retire from professional tennis despite to his injury in recent months. He also told that 2017 will be the final season for world No.1 Rafael Nadal’s career.
Murray, who hasn’t competed in an official event since Wimbledon in July has been dogged by persistent hip problems in 2017.
The Scot last outing was in Glasgow last November when he faced on Roger Federer in an exhibition match. He has been training in Miami in order to get ready for the 2018 season.
“I’ve had a lot of injuries. I feel I still have a lot of potential left untouched, but I just cannot go anymore.” Cash said.
“Everyone is different. Some guys fade from illness, some people are injured and I’ve never really regretted it because I know I’ve paid for everything.
“There’s no reason why you cannot play well, but you have to be motivated, but on the other hand, you need to think about long-term health, and nowadays it is common for people of our generation to talk about who made the knee or hip replacement.
“For us, it was something four or 50. It was a mystery to me. Why did not Murray enjoy life? Notably, he definitely likes it.” Cash added.
Cash is a retired Australian professional tennis player. He reached a career-high ATP singles ranking of world No. 4 in May 1988 and a career-high ATP doubles ranking of world No.6 in August 1988.

“It has been enough to work 16 years on the tennis tournament. People forget that it’s not like being football player in football. They’ll be taken care of, take the bus and whether they go, all their companions will be there, and even five days a week they don’t need to play tennis. The tennis is really tough.” Cash said.
“When you talk about a career of 15 or 16 year, that’s really 15 or 16 years and unless you are injured, you have very little time to rest, and I don’t know why some of these guys are going to continue.” He added.
The 52-year-old tennis retired will be unveiled at the Australian Open legendary game, alongside his old rival Swedish Mats Wieland.
