The group stage is now complete for 1win Series Dota 2 Summer and the four remaining teams are getting ready for the playoffs this weekend.
1win Series Dota 2 Summer has a straightforward format. Eight teams split into two groups of four duel in a modified GSL group stage format for a spot in the playoffs. The group play also gives a lot of room for surprises as all series, except for the decider one, are a best-of-one affair.
At the end of the first day, Virtus.pro and PSG.Quest were eliminated. It isn’t a secret that VP have been struggling lately. They failed to clinch a spot at The International 2024 but they do have Riyadh Masters coming up so this was a good run for them to try things on the new patch. This may have been Quest’s last big hurrah for the season as they won’t compete at either TI or Riyadh Masters.
Today, Nigma Galaxy once again left fans scratching their heads as to how such a team laden with talent can continue to fail time and time again. The MENA-based team overwhelmingly lost both matches to Team Spirit and then Entity– in less than 30 minutes each.
Entity then went up against beastcoast in the best-of-three decider series.
After a back-and-forth game with a clutch play at the end, the defending champions took the first-game advantage and then took the following game and the series in the second match with an overpowering laning stage and gameplay.
The four remaining teams will now assemble for the playoffs.
