Foyth Has Not Break Steven Gerrard’s Red Card Record

A quick red card record for Tottenham Hotspur defender Juan Foyth in the Premier League has not been able to beat the Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard yet. Tottenham Hotspur had to end the Week 37 Premier League match against Bournemouth with a defeat on Saturday.

One Nathan Ake’s goal in the 90th + 1 minute was enough for Bournemouth to repatriate Tottenham Hotspur from the Vitality Stadium without reaching points. The defeat of Tottenham Hotspur could be due to the gap of number of players from the opponent. The Lilywhites played this match with just nine players after two pillars were red carded. It is clearly one-side match after 2 of Tottenham Hotspur players left the field and Pochettino left to figure out how to find a good result from this harsh situation.

First is Son Heung-min, who was sent off in the 43rd minute and secondly, Juan Foyth when the match showed the 48th minute. Son Heung-min who were not able to control his emotion during the clash between him and several Bournemouth players made his team suffer with 10 players. Few minutes apart, Tottenham Hotspur lost another player due to the red card received by Juan Foyth. A severe incident is certainly experienced by Juan Foyth. Because, he was only revealed in the second round to replace Toby Alderweireld.

However, because of a hard violation to Jack Simpson, the 20-year-old defender from Argentina was immediately released by referee Craig Pawson. Foyth was recorded only playing for 2 minutes 13 seconds.

That made the defender hold the record as the fastest substitute who was expelled in the Premier League in the last four years. Even so, Foyth’s record is still inferior to Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard. After all, it is a record that no one in Premier League clubs wants to break.

Gerrard was sent off in just 38 seconds in the 30-20 Premier League match of the 2014-2015 season between Liverpool and Manchester United, March 2015. It was only in the second half that Gerrard made a hard tackle on Ander Herrera who immediately sent him a red card by referee Martin Atkinson. Liverpool also lost 1-2 to Man United who witnessed their own supporters at Anfield Stadium.
