France Qualifies for the Semifinals After Defeating England 2-1!

The 2022 World Cup quarter-finals will bring together England against France.

France was able to qualify for the semifinals after beating England with a score of 1-2.

France was able to win thanks to goals scored by Aurelien Tchouameni and Olivier Giroud’s header.

Meanwhile, England had leveled the score through Harry Kane’s penalty kick.

In the semifinals, France will face Morocco, who beat Portugal 1-0 in the previous match.

In the first half France immediately took the initiative to attack first.

France got the first chance through Olivier Giroud’s header.

Unfortunately Giroud’s header still led to the arms of England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

In the 17th minute, France was able to take the lead first through Aurelien Tchouameni’s hard kick from outside the penalty box.

Aurelien Tchouameni was able to take a hard kick after receiving a pass from Antoine Griezmann.

The 1-0 score lasted until the first half was over.

In the second half England, eager to equalize, immediately took the initiative to attack.

In the 51st minute, England were awarded a penalty after Bukayo Saka was fouled by Tchouameni in the penalty box.

Harry Kane, who advanced as a penalty taker, scored a goal against Hugo Lloris.

The temporary score changed to 1-1 in the 54th minute.

France was able to get back ahead of England through a headed goal scored by Olivier Giroud in the 78th minute.

England were awarded their second penalty in the 81st minute after Mason Mount was fouled by Theo Hernandez in the forbidden box.

Harry Kane again became the executor of penalties.

Unfortunately this time Kane’s penalty shot flew over Hugo Lloris’ goal.

The 2-1 score lasted until the match was over.

With this result, England must be eliminated in the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup.

Didier Deschamps admits that his team was a bit lucky after beating England in the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup.

“It’s amazing, it’s a big game,” Deschamps said as quoted by espn.

“We were up against an excellent English team who were strong technically and physically,” he continued.

“It’s brilliant for the boys to be in the top four again. At times like these you wish time could stop for a while.”

“But tonight we will enjoy it. We were a bit lucky even though we gave away two penalties. We defended our lead with our heart and guts,” said Deschamps.

In this match Olivier Giroud was also able to pass Thierry Henry’s record as France’s all-time leading scorer.

“Tonight’s goal, his 53rd, was even better [than matching Henry]. Just before I had the chance I should have hit harder and scored,” Giroud was quoted as saying by espn.

“I thought I might get another chance, and when it came to me it was amazing to score”, continued Giroud.

“You have to keep believing. [Antoine Griezmann] gave me a super ball, it’s very good for the team, it’s amazing,” he continued.

“We know the potential of this young England team. They have everything, but we played a solid game, we tried to hurt them on the break. We did it with all our mental strength.”
