Former Chelsea and Manchester City star Frank Lampard is “disappointed” with Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette, who has been so poor in the Premier League so far.
Lacazette’s career with the Gunners could not run as expected since he was signed from Ligue 1 clubs Olympique Lyonnais in the last summer transfer market for £52.7 million fee.
But until now the 26-year-old striker has just contributed ten goals from 28 matches. In fact the French forward spent six weeks on the sidelines earlier in 2018 after he suffered an injury during Arsenal’s 1-0 loss to Spurs in last February.
“I have watched a lot of Lacazette this season and so far he hasn’t done enough for me as a striker,” Lampard told media.
“I just don’t understand why he is not testing the backline all the time by running in behind. He is quick enough and has come to the Premier League from Lyon with a goal-scoring pedigree. But his body language has just not looked right at times. He looks like a player who doesn’t want to make those kind of runs.” Lampard added.
The arrival of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the 2018 winter transfer window made Lacazette’s position in the front lines of Arsenal increasingly threatened so far.
According to report, Lacazette was facing a serous battle to win back Wenger’s trust, especially now Arsene Wenger has good choice to Aubameyang. The Gabon star has always been the main choice of the French manager in recent months.
“It is strange because Arsenal have the players that slip balls through. Aubameyang is already taking advantage of that, he knows running into the box is where you get your chances.” Lampard said.

“Now is the time Lacazette has to cut out everything going on outside. He is a bit hurt that the club have gone out spent money in January on Aubameyang but it’s still all there for him. Aubameyang is cup-tied in the Europa League so he knows there is a great chance to start every game.
“Arsenal will need him if they get past CSKA Moscow as expected on Thursday and then play teams like Atletico Madrid or Lazio in the last four. Strikers make the difference in these kind of games.” The 39-year-old man added.
According to the contract, Lacazette earns a £120,000 per week and binds a contract until 2022 with Wenger’s side.
