Former world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson insisted he wants to return to the ring and fight again and again in three or four-round exhibition fights.
In April, the 53-year-old showed why he was one of the greatest boxers in his prime as he recently showcased his boxing skills once again.
“I don’t care if Mike Tyson is in the gym for the next ten years, he has no chance against any heavyweight. I have no idea who would licence him at the age of 53 if it wasn’t an exhibition match.” veteran boxing promoter Frank Warren said.
“I can’t see any governing body doing that. He’s in there getting himself fit and well, and that’s brilliant. But in terms of fighting again, give me a break.
Tyson had his last match against Irish heavyweight champion Kevin McBride in 2005. After retiring, he started a production company called Iron Mike Productions in 2013.
“I know the lockdown is driving us all a bit mad and there’s lots of talk about fantasy fights, but all the fighters who come back all wind up one way, going straight back out again. If they make it into the ring, they all get beat bad and embarrassed.” Warren said.
“Towards the end of his career Danny Williams and Kevin McBride did a job on Mike. If he comes back, who is he going to fight?
“His trainer said he could fight any heavyweight in six months, he probably could. I could fight any heavyweight in six months, at least I could get in there and try. There’s only one outcome and it would be the same for Mike.” Warren added.
In 1985 Tyson had his debut fight back then no one knew he was destined to become one of the most recognizable boxers in history. He knocked out 44 heavyweight boxers in his career, winning 50 in total against six defeats.
