Toronto Raptors superstar Fred VanVleet said that, as a matter of loyalty, he would not accept a direct trade between Scottie Barnes and Kevin Durant.
“I would not do that business. I wouldn’t give up Scottie. I already told you I’m a loyal guy, so I wouldn’t do that.” Fred said.
“By the way, I’m not the kind of guy who thinks about trades for our team. I want, in short, that we all reach the goals together. That’s right: I wouldn’t give up the boy for Kevin.” Fred added.
The question may seem random, but it’s based on a recent real story. The Raptors were one of the most heavily rumored teams for Durant as he upheld his trade request from the Brooklyn Nets. New Yorkers, for their part, would demand Barnes in any negotiation scenario.
The young power forward, however, is not above good and bad with his co-star. He wouldn’t be traded for an NBA star, but he’s also his friend’s last choice to date his sister.
“Scottie would be my last option, certainly. The kid is only 20 years old, so no chances. After all, I want my sister’s next boyfriend to be to marry,” Fred said.
Fred is the most top supporter of the team and, therefore, Barnes and Durant are always in the spotlight. The athlete, however, really cannot see the much-commented physical resemblance.
“I don’t think we look alike, but there are far worse people to be compared to in the world. I’m not going to get mad about it because he’s one of the greatest artists on the planet.” Fred said.
“We don’t believe we have anything in common physically, but I would like to be his brother. He is known all over the world and, above all, we have a very nice relationship.” he added.
