Former Manchester United player Gary Neville has often been the target of angry supporters of Liverpool. Because, he routinely issued ridicule words and ridiculous chatter if Liverpool won.
Liverpool also managed to embrace the English Premier League trophy this season after waiting 30 years. Inevitably, the man who is now an observer of English Premier League football has been the target of ridicule by the Reds’ top fans.
The video tells the story of Neville who suddenly disappeared as if swallowed by the earth when Liverpool won. The side of Sky Sports as the Premier League broadcasting rights holder even made a special video on their Instagram account.
Reporting from Metro, Neville once said Manchester United would rise and would win the English Premier League champions before the Reds champion.
“I can guarantee, Manchester United will win again. They might win the Premier League before Liverpool. This certainly does not mean disrespect, they will win the League before Liverpool,” Neville said at the time.
On March 31, 2014, Neville when he was a pundit on Sky Sports was also joked when asked to choose the team that would be the favorite champion between Manchester City and Liverpool.
“It’s like choosing between two men to kidnap your wife,” Neville said, greeted by the laughter of the host Sky Sports.
Reporting from the Liverpool Echo on May 4, 2020, Neville also again mocked Liverpool related to the great opportunities of the English Premier League champions.
“I think it will only hurt a little to see them win this way, without fan noise in the stadium, without me there,” Neville said.
He even joked about the shirt he would wear if Liverpool won.
“I think I will wear a T-shirt with stars printed and little star pins on Sky [Sports] next season, just for fun,” Neville said.
He even boasted that he even went to Papua New Guinea if Liverpool won. The Neville snippet commented again raised by Sky Sports became a joke.
“Liverpool can win the league and maybe I should move to Papua New Guinea or other places,” explained Neville.
