Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (37-0-1, 33 KOs) on Tuesday has planed to move forward with his rematch against Mexican Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (49-1-2, 34 KOs) on this May 5, even though he has recently failed an anti-doping test.
According to reports, Alvarez has tested positive for the performance-enhancing drug clenbuterol, just two months before the most anticipated boxing fight of the year against GGG.
However, Golovkin believed that Alvarez is a cheater and that his attempt to blame meat contamination for the result of his test is a joke. The 35-year-old boxer believed that this is a symptom of more extensive boxing corruption.
“Again with Mexican meat? Come on, I told you, it’s not Mexican meat. This is Canelo, this is his team and this is his promotion.” Golovkin told to media.
“Canelo is cheating. They’re using three drugs, and everybody is just trying to pretend it’s nothing happening at the moment.
“This guy, he knows. This is not the first day in boxing. He proves he gets benefits from everyone and he can get away with it. Check him on a lie detector and then we can find out everything.
“I think it silly to blame the meat because an athlete at this level should not be caught on the meat. I eat Mexican food all the time and I’ve never had the problem.” Golovkin added.

Golovkin was not fond of Alvarez before training at high altitude in Southern California. For the first time, the world middleweight champion repeated that he believed that Alvarez had used illegal substances in his previous fights, including their first duel in September.
“It was pretty obvious when you saw that his muscles were swollen and his injection marks were visible. I can talk about Oscar De La Hoya too. It is not clean. He is dirty.” Golovkin told.
The Nevada Athletic Commission has not yet announced whether disciplinary action will be taken against Alvarez or whether there will be a public hearing on his decision. The fight is scheduled in just over six weeks, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
If the Nevada Athletic Commission cancelled the rematch, promoter Tom Loeffler hinted that Golovkin would like to unify the middleweight titles against Britain’s Billy Joe Saunders, who holds one of the four major belts in this division.
