Former unified middleweight champion, Gennady “GGG” Golovkin, insisted he is ready to play a rematch with Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, after making a smashing return to the ring in New York.
Golovkin has shown that he still has a devastating power in him, having just brutally stopped Steve Rolls at Madison Square Garden. The Kazakh knocked out the Canadian with 51 seconds remaining in the fourth round of their super middleweight fight Saturday night.
“I feel good. I feel like a newborn. Right now, I feel completely different since I started to win by knockout and I love New York. It was a very good evening overall.” Golovkin said.
Golovkin was back after a nine-month hiatus, which he struggled to digest his loss to Canelo by majority decision; his only loss since he played for the pros.
Asked who he wants to face in his next fight, Golovkin was categorical in his response as he asked for a GGG against Canelo.
“Everyone knows it. Fans know very well who they want to see me fight in my next fight. I’m ready for September.” Golovkin said.
“I’m ready for Canelo. Bring him to me, ask him, I’m ready. If you want to see a big drama show, please, tell him. I’m ready to give you the big drama show.
“I believe it, since this is boxing. It’s the business world of boxing. Why not? The next fight will be just amazing for us.

“I feel like the champion right now. This does not really matter. I want to beat Canelo but the belts do not matter. People see me as the champion.” Golovkin added.
That, of course, could be a third go-round with Canelo, who owns the victory and the draw on Golovkin’s record. Both are under contract to DAZN.
