There had been discussions that Gennady “GGG” Golovkin signed an agreement with DAZN, while it was not done yet. But eventually, the Kazakhs and DAZN finally saw their deal cross the finish line, ESPN reported.
Golovkin signed a three-year deal including six fights with the streaming platform, but the exact amount he will get for this deal has not been revealed. And with Golovkin soon turning 37, it is likely that this lucrative deal will be the last of GGG’s career.
Golovkin’s first bout, included in this new deal, is expected to stand either on June 8 or June 16 against an opponent to be determined, and talks say that a third fight with Canelo Alvarez, in September, should take place if Canelo defeats Daniel Jacobs, in May.
Canelo defeated Golovkin in the 12th round during a middleweight title boxing at the T-Mobile Arena last September. Two judges gave Canelo the final round, allowing him to pull out the win.
“DAZN has quickly become a staple for boxing by setting up the biggest events that are easily accessible to fans.” Golovkin said.
“When I had to decide where I wanted to continue my career, DAZN’s global vision was perfectly suited to my goals – not just for my career but for the opportunity to be an important showcase for Europe’s fighters East across the world. I thank the fans for their support and I cannot wait for you to join me on DAZN.” Golovkin added.

It will be interesting to see who Golovkin faces this summer. All signs point to a mega fight in the fall, and yet another marquee fight in DAZN’s hands.
“I hope I can do the six fights,” he said. “I feel great right now, but I hope I do the six fights. After the six fights, we’ll see what else I can do.” Golovkin said.
DAZN now owns three of the biggest boxing stars, with Golovkin joining Canelo and world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua on the streaming platform.
