Juventus coach, Massimiliano Allegri, was disappointed that his team failed to win when they hosted Genoa in Week 29 of the 2023-2024 Italian League, on Sunday 17 March 2024. Playing at the Allianz Stadium, Juventus actually created many opportunities, but the final score was still 0-0.
Allegri was furious with his squad, especially Juventus’ front line. Because of the total of 17 shots fired, not a single one resulted in a goal, in fact only two shots were on target.
Juventus also had to end this match with ten players. Following a foul on Josep Martinez in injury time, Dusan Vlahovic was yellow carded twice by the referee due to protests and excessive reactions.
Juventus’ performance continues to fade. They are now in a pretty bad situation.
Because, in the last eight matches, Massimiliano Allegri’s team has only won once. The remainder are four draws and three losses (M1 D4 L3).
Allegri himself realized that Genoa was indeed providing quite tough resistance to the Bianconeri – Juventus’ nickname -. So Juventus had difficulty scoring goals.
“Playing this match for Juventus is very difficult and complicated,” said Allegri as quoted by Tuttomercato, Tuesday (19/3/2024).
Yes, the 56 year old coach said that Juventus played less effectively in taking advantage of opportunities to score goals. Of course, this was one of the factors why Juventus failed to beat Genoa.
“Aware of the importance of the match and in the first half we experienced some difficulties. However, in the last 90 minutes of the match, we had a chance to win it in the second half,” continued Allegri.
Allegri said Juventus would immediately improve themselves after the match. This is so that Juventus does not get points in future matches.
“Performance in football depends on results. We have goals to achieve and we can only achieve them by continuing to work and carrying out our duties,” he said.
Currently Juventus is in third place in the standings with 59 points. Meanwhile, Genoa is in 12th position with 34 points.
After always conceding in the previous seven matches, Juventus finally didn’t concede against Genoa. However, Juventus failed to win. They have to settle for sharing the numbers.
Juventus’ next schedule is two consecutive clashes against Lazio in Serie A (31/3/2024) and in the first leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final (3/4/2024). Will Juventus continue to fade or can they shine again?
