Georginio Wijnaldumis ends his contract with Liverpool this summer and has not yet renewed, which will allow him to start for free from June 30.
According to reports, the Dutch midfielder has already reached an agreement with Barcelona and has signed a pre-contract, for which he will become the first incorporation of the newly elected president Joan Laporta.
Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp manager hopes Liverpool can do enough to keep Wijnaldum, but insisted whether there was already an agreement in place for the midfielder was unimportant.
“I cannot really say a lot about that. I would be happy if he would stay here. I am pretty happy with Gini as you can see when you look at most of the line-ups,” Klopp said.
“He played always good, that’s why he’s played the amount of games he has. I cannot remember a lot of bad games to be honest.” he added.
Wijnaldum passed through Feyenoord and PSV Eindhoven before landing at Liverpool for € 25 million. This season he has played 40 games for the Reds and scored three goals.
“He played for us in plenty of different positions and he is in a good moment thank God. Long may it continue.” Klopp said.
“I don’t know how many games he’s played since I’ve been here, it’s good and there’s nothing else to say about it. As long as nothing is decided everything is possible. I am positive.” Klopp added.
Meanwhile, Barcelona does not get out of the fight for La Liga. They crushed Real Sociedad 6-1 away in La Liga on Sunday with a stunning team display.
The victory took Barca above Real Madrid into second place in the standings on 62 points, four behind leaders Atletico Madrid with 10 games left to play.
