Giannis Antetokounmpo, Harrison Barnes Named NBA Players of the Week

The NBA on Monday announced that Giannis Antetokounmpo and Harrison Barnes were named the best of the fifth week of this season. The choices are relative accordingly to the east and west conferences.

The Milwaukee Bucks star took the award for the twenty-fourth time in his NBA career, while the veteran of San Antonio Spurs received it for the first time.

Antetokounmpo appeared in only four games but the Bucks won all of them in that stretch. In the forward position, he scored on average 32.5 points, 10.8 rebounds and, 7.3 assists.

He also was 61.1% from the field goals in the half. He also averaged more than 10 free throws per game this week, but made few of them.

When asked how much the Blazers has improved its form and reaction this season, Antetokounmpo points to Lillard and himself.

“It’s all a matter of time. Well, we are discovering things that we want to know about each other. That happened to me and Khris Middleton,” Antetokounmpo said.

“We were hoping to get better and we wanted to be able to contribute to the team during playoffs. That’s how it is.

“For that reason, chemistry on the court only increases with each game, said the two-time league MVP.” Antetokounmpo added.

While Barnes was worthwhile to lead the Spurs to positive individual results in the three duels of the week.

Barnes contributed on average 22.3 points and 8.7 rebounds per night but did not use any unnecessary possessions.

This means he scored a free throw of about 61%, not forgetting most of his shots were three-point shots.

This remains a first in the league for the 32-year-old winger, who has rarely featured on weekly awards.

Having played 905 league games for 13 seasons, he got this recognition for the first time.
