Tennis News: Gilles Simon has been ranked 6th in the world, won 14 titles, and on several occasions, he has been so close to winning the ATP level 500 tournament.

However, the host, Gilles Simon recorded more success at Open 13 Provence, Marseille than in any other tournament and this week he showed the reason.

Simon managed to beat the first seed as well as world number 5 tennis player, Daniil Medvedev with 6-4, 6-0 in just 67 minutes to advance to the semifinals in Marseille.

Simon won the first ATP tournament title in his career at Marseille in the 2007 season and he won it again in the 2015 season. Of the 14 titles he has won, he won five titles at his own home, two titles at Marseille and three titles at Moselle.

World number 58 Simon Simon is ahead of Medvedev by 3-0 in their head to head after winning 91 percent points from his first serve. Simon broke Medvedev’s service five times from six occasions and he lost his own service only once to advance to the semifinals in Marseille for the fifth time in his career.

Standing between Simon and one place at the top of the party is the young Canadian tennis player, Felix Auger Aliassime.

Seventh seeded player, Auger Aliassime qualified for the semifinals after defeating Belarussian Egor Gerasimov with 7-5, 6-2.

Auger Aliassime is currently just one win away from the fifth final of his career (0-4) The 19-year-old tennis player has recently become the youngest finalist in the history of the Rotterdam Open event before losing to Gael Monfils.

Then Previously, the Next Gen ATP Finals champion last season, Sinner who was left behind 1/4 in the second set tiebreaker, secured the six break points he faced throughout the match that lasted for 2 hours 3 minutes.
